Time based release cycle
The Joomla version 3.0 is the first big release in the time based cycle. This concept was adopted in January, 2011. The scheduled release of Joomla’s versions is a great challenge for the developer team as it has to come up with a latest version after every six months on the scheduled date. Version 3.0 is not launched for everyone

The version 3.0 will ditch old MySQL support and will need the new MySQL driver. Further, INNODB engine incorporated in MySQL will be needed.
