marriage and social network

They say, people with fortune smiling on them get married only once in a lifetime and spend the rest of their life with the same partner. But, in that case, the rarest of rare moment of their life become even more cherishing. They want to share the joy with their dear ones and colleagues. These days’ couples remain busy posting all the details even during their honeymoon. Hey, do not get me wrong. They usually keep their friends updating about the places they visit and the popular holiday activities they keep themselves busy with.

Sometimes the soon to be married couples keep their friends updating about their plans leading to the wedding function and the other post-marriage occasions. Wedding sites are very popular these days. These sites are dedicated to everything from pre-marriage preparations to the honeymoon planning. Sometimes friends keep making little suggestions on this and that. The sites get adorned by wedding and honeymoon photos.

It has been observed that at least 62% of the newly-engaged women browsed through social media for wedding ideas. 43% of them took help from Facebook alone. 24% of them used online program for monitoring RSVPs.

Women have been found to be more excited about using social networking sites for their wedding updates. Just after wearing the wedding ring, they start typing their posts.

When a survey was done, 68% women found to be going for Facebook to spread the news of marriage, while 67% chose to email for the purpose. 59% were happy texting to their friends. But, the strange thing is, a few considered Twitter to be tacky and completely turned away from Instagram.

The newly engaged girls these days choose Pinterest. 42% of them create pinned photos on wedding boards. Pinterest also helps in finding the right wedding cakes, themes for table and floral decors.

A quarter of the brides surveyed have admitted that they would log in on the social networking site on the wedding day. Even live streaming of the entire ceremony is quite an “in” thing these days. The internet technology has made it easy for them who could not attend the marriage ceremony, but are eager to have a feel of the entire occasion.

Among the entire online fiesta, what astonishes us the most is the traditional feel of the wedding invitation. It has largely remained the way it was even a decade ago. Among all the online wedding related activities, only 15% of the couples chose to send online invitations. But, there are internet maniac couples too who are ready to even get married over Skype.
