Google Stops Showing Full YouTube Subscriber Count

In recent times, the obsession with YouTube subscribers count has shot up too alarmingly for YouTube’s liking. Matters are such that general users upload live feeds of the subscriber counts of combating YouTubers shooting up or climbing down! Moreover, these live feeds are watched by thousands across the world. YouTube doesn’t like that kind of obsession with YouTube subscriber count one bit. If not anything, they are viewing this as the start of new trouble, something that may get out of hand.

What changes are coming into YouTube Subscriber Count?

To nip this problem in the bud, so to speak, YouTube will do away with the publication of the exact YouTube subscriber count by August 2019. Only the concerned YouTuber can check the exact count on YouTube studio. General users at large cannot view that and it subsequently means that there will be no ‘live’ competition among content creators on YouTube, or their fans.

So what will be the format of subscriber count that will be visible to general users?

The figure will be an approximate one. If a YouTuber has 77200 subscribers, the count will show as 77k. The exact breakup will not be available, except to the concerned YouTuber. In the same vein, you must note that these counts are applicable only for YouTube channels with more than 1000 subscribers. For those operating it with less than 1000, the exact number will be viewable by general users at large.

This decision is more in line with the original aim of YouTube: provide great video content. The obsession with subscriber count was a byproduct that YouTube wants to dismiss by August, 2019.
