Seven Boats Hum Jiyenge is a Suicide Prevention Awareness Campaign on World Suicide Prevention Day through a 17 days digital campaign / social media campaign along with a ground event. This campaign has successfully reached 7.5 Lac+ people directly through digital platforms & 40 Lac listeners through our exclusive Radio partner 91.9 Friends FM in Kolkata plus 48 KM radius. It has received 50+ media coverage & huge support from every corner of the society including students, doctors, television actors & movie stars. 14+ sponsors & partners have come forward for this social cause. An eye opening case study on 100+ people in Kolkata was published to portray a clear picture about their current mental state.

About #HumJiyenge Campaign
#HumJiyenge – A Suicide Prevention Awareness campaign by Seven Boats is a proactive effort to raise awareness around suicidal behaviours. It aims to lessen social stigmas and ambiguities by raising awareness of statistics and sociological research on suicide and promoting constructive discourse and interaction as a strategy of preventing suicide. With support from eminent personalities from different backgrounds with their experiences and opinions, our initiative is to create hope through actions.

This year, in the light of the World Suicide Prevention Day initiative, Seven Boats has adopted the theme of “Hum Jiyenge” for their Suicide Prevention Awareness Campaign primarily in Kolkata and its neighbouring areas. “Hum Jiyenge” which translates to “We will Live” is a reflection of the positive spirit that “Creating Hope Through Action” caters to. It aims to inspire a feeling of hope in the ones for whom life has become a source of pain and hopelessness. People suffering from depression and experiencing suicidal thoughts slowly lose out on the “will” to live. The words “Hum Jiyenge” aims to bolster and strengthen the weakened spirit and also inspire a want for life in the ones willing to give up on it.
With #HumJiyenge, Seven Boats has taken a step towards spreading true awareness about this extremely misunderstood and stigmatized social issue and creating a safe place for people suffering to voice their anguish and find solace and support.

It is a matter of great pride for us all that we are being able to address here today a subject that is otherwise considered as a taboo. It is most unfortunate when people suffering from severe depression choose to or think of taking their own lives finding no other way to let go of their anguish. Fear of being alienated and misunderstood further worsens the situation. It is extremely important for us all to realize how a little empathy can make a big difference. Thus, today we have decided to recognize the work of an organization that has taken up the huge responsibility of bringing hope where there is none.
A big round of applause for Lifeline Foundation for their support in this noble initiative. Lifeline Foundation is a voluntary organization working in the field of mental health and suicide prevention in Kolkata for over 26 yrs. – since 1996. The organization runs tele helplines to try and provide emotional support to callers who may be depressed, distressed or suicidal. Volunteers are extensively trained in Suicide Prevention Gatekeeping as per international standards. Their Mission is to break the stigma, prevent suicides and provide support to families affected by suicide. Their outreach work spans educational institutions as well as govt organizations to enhance awareness of Mental Health in India.
