Your business should promote itself by tweeting 2 to 3 times per day. Here are some facts about why your business should actively tweet:
- 85% of followers feel more connected with a small business after following them.
- About 70% of Twitter users are more likely to buy from brands that they follow on Twitter.
- About 40% of consumers learn about products and services from Twitter.
When is the best time to post on Twitter? If you want to get a lot of clicks on your tweets, you should post between 12 pm and 6 pm on the weekdays. Additionally, 5 pm is the best time to get your business’s tweets retweeted. Weekday tweets get much more activity than weekend tweets do but it also depends what type of business you are. B2B companies should tweet from Monday through Friday, while B2C companies should focus their efforts from Wednesdays through Sundays.
However, the most popular time to tweet and the best times to tweet for engagement differ across time zones, so it’s still important to experiment and find the times when your audience is most engaged.
Not sure what you should tweet? About 67% of Twitter users focus on tweets of products/services descriptions. Videos and links to blogs/articles are also popular among Twitter followers. Here are the highest performing types of content on Twitter:
- Text-based tweets with a link to a “how-to” blog or list-based content can get up to 85% more engagement.
- Tweeted images perform about three times better than videos in terms of “retweets”.
- Videos do get “liked” more than images; so use videos sparingly if you want to get some added power from your Twitter account.
